Introducing Aromatherapy

Lavender FieldsA warm welcome to the wonderful world of Essential Oils, Aromatic Medicine and Chemical free living.

Firstly, I would like to make it clear that the oils I will make reference to are Young Living Essential Oils. I can’t vouch for the purity, integrity, or therapeutic value of many inferior, perfume grade essentials oils produced by other companies.  The only oils I recommend or use myself  are the 100% therapeutic grade, pure essential oils produced by Young Living.  These wonderful oils have not only changed my life, but the lives of many of my friends and my valued clients.

If you are under the care of a physician, or are pregnant or nursing,  you should consult your medical professional before using essential oils.  Please inform them of what you are intending to use and see if it’s okay with the plan of care they have you on.  Always keep your essential oils ot of reach of children.

It is also a good idea to go to your Essential Oil’s Pocket Reference (EOPR) to see how your oils should be used.  The EOPR is also where you will find safety information on each oil, should you have any concerns.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s explore how to use these God given gifts from nature, to enhance our health and wellbeing in a very natural way.

There are many ways to  use essential oils. You can diffuse them into the air using a cold air diffuser.  Cold air diffusers break down the oils into very fine molecules without damaging the healing component of the oils and can offer many health benefits both on a physical and emotional level.  This makes them easier to enter our olfactory system. Our sense of smell is one of our strongest senses. The fine molecules enter our olfactory system through the nose, travel quickly to our limbic system (the centre of our emotions and memory).  They quickly enter our hypothalamus in the brain and this means we start feeling their effects very quickly.  Diffusing, depending on your choice of oil, can kill airborne bacteria, protect from colds and flu, uplift your mood, refresh and invigorate your mind, calm nervous tension, aid troubled sleep and heal your spirit.

You can apply toils opically for natural first aid, for the simple health challenges life throws at us.  In some cases, for some approved products only and only Young Living products, you can ingest them.  You can use them as a perfume, or dilute for a therapeutic massage and add to your bath water for a relaxing bath

Some oils are very good for freshening, disinfecting and cleaning your home and laundry.  This way you can replace many harsh chemical based personal care and household cleaning items with healthy natural alternatives.  Many store bought personal care and cleaning products have many undesirable side effects that are detrimental to your health and longevity.

Remember Essential Oils have been around for thousands of years.  They were our first medicines – we were given a garden, forests and fields not a pharmaceutical company!
